Where do I start to become an Ice Skater?
I'm 14 and I've never ice skated before, but I really want to try it. My mom said she is willing to put me in classes and support me so I'm happy about that, but I don't know where to start? I know where a ice skating rink is.
Go to your local ice rink and try it out, but make sure you take a jacket and some gloves. If you have roller skated/roller bladed before, it will be an easy transition for you. Make sure you get rental skates that fit and lace them fairly tightly without cutting off your circulation. Ask about group lessons. They should have a Basic 1 class for your age group a couple of times a week. Once you have gone to some classes and really like it, then look into figure skates of your own. You can purchase reasonable skates for your skate level, your skating will improve (because you don't have to keep adjusting to a new rental skate every time) and you will enjoy skating quite a bit more.
