Patriotic Baby Boomers, was saying the Pledge of Allegiance as big a spiritual bust for you as it was for me?
As a kid I was the most patriotic little "space-ball" (aka "space-nerd" for you young kids). It was us against the Russians in a race to the moon. I remember my chest swelling with pride at the National Anthem but I always thought the Pledge of Allegiance was more than just a little lame.
Anyone feel the same?
I think we should give our kids a reason to be proud and patriotic about the US, not force a Pledge on them.
You're very right about that. If patriotism is blind, it is misguided.
