Is it safe to serve hot food directly on old silver plated dishes?
I have a pair of antique serving dishes -silver plated, in good condition, however the inner glass dish is gone and I am not sure I can find a size that fits, can I use them on a buffet with hot food in them?
No - that is not what they're made for - they are pretty "holders" for the glass dish -- They can be ruined by food being placed directly into them --not to mention that you could get metal poisoning form them ---
Take them with you to a store and try to find a glass casserole dish that fits them -- or measure and go online @ Anchor Hocking or Pyrex to find replacements --
