When you skin a small animal can you leave the paws in the hide as it drys?
To preserve a small animal hide, after you skin it can you hang it to dry over night then rub salt over it for a period of days until it is dry. What are some ways to keep the skin and fur from rotting, I've never done this before but i want to keep the furs. The paws are in this skin because I wanted to use the skin for something and I did not want to cut them off because they are so cute.
You can. A small animal might not give you much trouble. Borax might work better than salt, though. Don't wait to but the salt or borax on the skin. Do it as soon as you skin it.
