Figurine Decorative

Saturday, August 14th, 2010

I want to make a decorative (but useful) pipe, what should I use?

I have a metal one, but i want to make my own so that it looks like a figurine (I'm going to cover it with Fimo) but has all the necessary parts. I'm worried about using PVC and copper, so does anyone know any alternatives that can be used safely and i can get as easily as PVC and copper? also, anything i don't have to solder would be good :) thanks.
To the question regarding carving wood.
I could technically, but I have to bake the fimo clay and that would make the wood turn black and overheat and it wouldn't be good, its happened to me before.

If you want to use what is traditional for most a Native American tribes you can buy pipestone .It is the mineral Catlinite it is soft 2 on the Mohs scale and carves easily. The best quality is from Minnesota. It is avalable from www.sfjs.net. If you research on line I am sure you can find free information on how to carve it with common handtools or maybe even a pocket knife.
