Tibet is not a part of China. Historically it is more Mongolian than Chinese. Why would anybody want to go to?
go to the Olympics? Boycott them. The Chinese are so wrong in this it is sad. Tibet was last invaded in the 1950s by the Chinese. It is well documented. I realise there are loads of mineral deposits in Tibet but it is no reason to treat Tibetans like third class citizens. Does anybody support the Chinese claim over Tibet ?

It's rather sickening that it needs to be explained so many times that the Olympics isn't about politics--it's about the atheletes who's trained their entire lives for perhaps their only chance to compete at the games. Remember the Cold War? And the mess with tainting the Olympics with politics? Just because history likes to repeat itself doesn't mean people should turn into sheeple. Get out of vicious cycle.
Tibet right now can't support/protect itself. And if the lure of mineral deposits is really that great, than you can be sure someone will try to take over Tibet if China allows it its independence, and I highly doubt Mongolia is in a position to protect Tibet. China's treatment of Tibet right now IS dubious, but there is no other way top handle the situation that will result in Tibet becoming a stable area.
