questions about an ancient figurine? 10 points to anyone who can really help:)?
Yesterday I bought a monkey Vintage Figurine which was $ 18 and the size of the space between your thumb and your pointer in a circle. you can see a little face paint, and it seems to be some kind of dark gray metal that mainly turned green lichen. the store manager's claims from the 1940s, most likely a British toy. here are my questions: 1.) Is it possible to know what is its period? 2.) What metal is it made of? 3.) Where did it come from? Thank You for all the help! It also seems to be splashed with white? and has a tail thick metal wire?
1940? I must say very unlikely - we had no alternative metal, and for toys. And I think it would have been marked with Made in Britain (my own toys veterans of that era were). This will be the tin. And I would not be surprised if she was Japanese, and perhaps before 1940. It is not a great help, but these small figures are collectible, and I advise you to try the Japanese research, particularly as they are very fond of monkeys. And auctioneer recognize if you took it for an evaluation.
