What is the shelf life of s10 gas masks? for example, are the 1988 ones usable even now in 2010 without being compromised?
Also how long do the filters last normally when unsealed and exposed?

The mask itself has a 20 year shelf life, and the canister has a 10 year shelf life. So the simple answer to you question is no, one made in 1988 would not work now.
